Church in the World

As Christians, how can we turn our faith into action? How can we work together as a parish for social justice? How can we ensure that we are truly building God’s kingdom here on earth?

St Peter’s strives to be:
  • a Socially Conscious Church
  • an Environmentally Responsible Church
  • a Thinking Church

St Peter’s donates an increasing proportion of its income to external causes, developing strong relationships with the groups we support.

  • Locally, we support the work of the Zacchaeus 2000 Trust, a small charity which works to combat poverty in London.
  • Internationally, we are providing finance for the building of a school in Angola, through the Diocese of London’s link with Angola and Mozambique, ALMA.

We are “Greener” church, by reducing our impact on the environment, as well as sharing awareness of green issues. We have also won Fair Trade Church status by committing ourselves to using only fairly traded coffee, tea and other goods.

We encourage debate on all these issues. We are particularly keen to involve young people in this process, and we are always open to new ideas of how to engage more participants.
