Renaissance Masterpieces

In October 2017 St Peter’s is celebrating 20 years of service by its Director of Music, Andrew-John Smith. In this time Andrew-John has built on earlier traditions at the church to enhance the worship at the Choral Eucharist and other services, exploring little known musical corners of the renaissance alongside the French Baroque, romantic and contemporary repertoire.

On Thursday 12th October, the choir of St Peter's will give a concert, directed by Andrew-John, to include some of this repertoire by Isaac, Crecquillon, Manchicourt, Cardoso, Morales, Guerrero, Parsons, Tallis and White which have featured regularly in choral services over the last 20 years.

Musical excellence

Musical excellence

St Peter’s has a reputation for musical excellence and today this is reflected in the contribution made to our worship by our professional mixed choir, instrumental ensembles and organists under the direction of Andrew-John Smith. We also host the thriving Eaton Square Concert series, which offer two wonderful and varied programmes of music each year.

The Choir of St. Peter’s comprises some of the best young singers in the country. In their careers elsewhere they sing variously across the world with many of the country’s leading vocal groups. At the heart of the choir’s repertory is the exploration of sixteenth century music, but the repertoire of the choir ranges from Dufay through to Stravinsky and Maxwell Davies. Numerous works have been and continue to be written for it.

St. Peters, Eaton Square remains one of a few London churches committed to the occasional use of orchestral accompaniment to the liturgy. In addition the choir gives occasional concerts and has worked with numerous distinguished artists and ensembles.

At the Family Eucharist, the Family Eucharist Choir sings a wide variety of music, old and new, and is open to anyone who would like to join.

Eaton Square Concerts is based at St Peters Eaton Square. We are delighted to be able to host in London this new series of concerts, featuring some of today's finest established musicians and young stars. Ranging from early music to contemporary choral works, at the core of Eaton Square Concerts is an aspiration to deliver chamber music of the highest quality.

We are delighted to host many other concerts throughout the year, including The Whitehall Choir and choirs from the Grey Coat Hospital School, and broadcast concerts performed by The BBC Singers.
